David Winston Jones’ gravestone provides that he was born on May 10, 1910 and died on May 28, 1978. He served as a Private in the U.S. Army during World War II. All records indicate that he lived the entirety of his life as a resident of Virginia (though he married in Washington, D.C.). David was raised in his early years by his father, David and his mother, Lenora. He was married twice, and was the father of two biological children, and a step-father to seven.

Kathleen (Kate) Gruber, a Richmond native, is currently pursuing a B.A. in Anthropology in the Honors Program at the University of Mary Washington. She worked as the Family Services Intern with the Enrichmond Foundation in the summer and fall of 2020, conducting historical research on the cemeteries and leading volunteers to do the same. As the President of her school’s Sociology and Anthropology club, she is working with her school to prepare herself and peers for postgraduate studies. Kate currently plans to pursue a graduate education in Physical Anthropology, with a focus in repatriation.
